PULLMAN SHERLOCK HOLMES MURDER MYSTERY EVENINGSaturday 7th June 2008 6.30pmSherlock Holmes arrives at the Colne Valley Railway to enlist your help in solving another dastardly crime. You are invited to join us for an evening of mystery and murder. The victim(s) and suspects will gather just before departure on the station platform for an exciting evening aboard the Colne Valley Pullman.
During the evening there will be plots unmasked, intrigue and even murder. You will be asked to assist Mr Holmes in careful deduction to reveal the master criminal. Take part or just watch as you wine and dine aboard our luxury train.
Mr Sherlock Holmes will enact scenes with various clues between the courses of your meal. Finally, after coffee is served we will be asking you…. Who Dunnit?

Operating Days in May 2008
On all operating days the Railway now opens at 10.30 and trains start running at 11.30. Last admission 15.30. For 2008 our 'SIDINGS' Buffet has been refurbished with a brand new menu and increased seating area.
We have two visiting steam locomotives at the moment: 662 Martello from Bressingham. This was built in 1875 by the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway and was used on lightly used branch lines. Miniature Railway
New for the 2008 season we now have a 7.1/4 Gauge Miniature Railway it will operate 13.00 - 16.00 weather permitting on most open days.

A Day Out with 'Thomas'
'Thomas' returns to the Railway with around ten other Thomas characters. Reserved seat train rides on 'The Express Coaches' hauled by 'Thomas'. Also a ride on another Thomas character. Many free games and activities. Real life 'Thomas' story enactment.

Teddy Bears Picnic
Wednesdays in August – 6th, 13th, 20, 27th.
Every child bringing a Teddy Bear gets 50% discount on the admission ticket.

| Gala days and Specials
Freight Train Gala – 20th April.
Several steam trains with a typical rural goods train - shunting demonstrations.
Travelling Post Office Day – 11th May.
Commemorates the end of Travelling Post Offices on the Main Line. Our own Travelling Post Office Carriage will be operating with demonstrations.
Colne Valley Railway at War – 8th June
The Colne Valley Railway played a major part in the war effort as it served many local airfields. This day will feature evacuation trains, bomb trains, military vehicles and staff in period costumes.
Model Railway Exhibition – 29th June
A festival of Model Railways, supported by trade stands. In association with Halstead Model Railway Club.
Steam Gala – 31st August
All available Steam Locomotives with be hauling trains, with goods trains, crane demonstrations and other displays.
Diesel Railcar Gala – 25th and 26th October
All available diesel railcars will operate. A vintage bus service will operate to the East Anglian Rail Museum at Chappel. In association with Diesel Railcars Association and the East Anglian Railway Museum.

Fun packed summer outing for pre-school children, mother and toddler & playgroups. Designed to stimulate early learning opportunities whilst having fun.
Key Stage 1 & 2 'Big Images for Little People'
Through sight, sound, smell and touch the children will have the opportunity to enter the 'BIG' world of railways through 'BIG IMAGES FOR LITTLE PEOPLE'. The day is cross-curricular. It is designed to stimulate discussion and activity back at school and an appreciation of some of the exciting things the world has to offer.
Both events fully supported with Teacher and Child Packs, and pre-event Seminars. Numbers attending these events are strictly limited for comfort and room to learn.

Ride on a vintage luxury Pullman Steam Train with Queen Victoria and meet many other 'Victorian' characters. Music Hall, Schools' Market Stalls, Victorian Classroom, Punch & Judy and many other period activities. All participants must be in Victorian costume and seats reserved well in advance.
