A. Open but No Trains Running

>   Buffet open

The Railway will be open but no rides can be given. The Buffet will be open. No admittance charge applies. Open 09:00 - 16:00 (buffet 11:00 - 15:00).

The Miniature Railway will operate 12:00 - 15:00, weather and staff permitting, and give rides for a fare.

This favorite engine and his friends visit the railway again on 12th 13th 19th and 20th June plus 25th 26th September and 3rd October.

Two trains operating, one steam and one diesel railcar. Reduced child entry if bringing a bear to see Colin, the Railway's own Bear. Children can take part in Colin's Treasure Hunt.

16th May.

The Colne Valley Railway played a major part in the war effort as it served many local airfields. This day will feature evacuation trains, bomb trains, military vehicles and staff in period costumes.

A festival of Model Railways, supported by trade stands. In association with Halstead & District Model Railway Club.

18th July.

Run in conjunction with the local villages, this event will be dedicated to village life and features craft stalls, local farm produce, games and other activities. There will also be vintage bus trips of the villages.

D. Educational Events

>   1. 1940's

17th May.

A period costume school event recreating what wartime Britain was like after evacuation to the Country.

>   2. Teddy Bears Picnic

15th, 16th & 17th June.

Fun packed summer outing for pre-school children, mother and toddler & playgroups. Designed to stimulate early learning opportunities whilst having fun.

>   3. Big Images for Little People

23th & 24th June.

Through sight, sound, smell and touch the children will have the opportunity to enter the 'BIG' world of railways through 'BIG IMAGES FOR LITTLE PEOPLE'. The day is cross-curricular. It is designed to stimulate discussion and activity back at school and an appreciation of some of the exciting things the world has to offer.
