Accessibility

The Colne Valley Railway Preservation Society is determined that the Colne Valley Railway should offer the best possible facilities for the mobility impaired.

The majority of the extensive site and all the station platforms offer step-free access.

Our Level crossing is available for assisted crossing, but due to the gaps between the running rails, it is not ideally suitable for smaller wheeled mobility transport. The following buildings also have step free access:

N
Tierney Model Railway
N
Travelling Post Office display
N
Disabled toilet
N
The Museum
N
Shop
N
Buffet Patio area

Access to the miniature railway (assisted access) – sorry wheelchairs are too large for our carriages, but we do have a vehicle that can take persons with restricted mobility.

A ramp is available to provide wheelchair access to our mainline trains, and our friendly platform staff and train crews will be happy to assist. Please note that our ramps have a safe weight limit of 230kg.

Wheelchairs are able to be carried in the Guard’s Van on most services which are also provided with additional seats and windows. If the passenger has some mobility then they can sit in nearby passenger accommodation rather than travel in the Guard’s Van.

Please Note: Our trains do not have operational toilet facilities.

For larger groups advance notice would be appreciated.
